Devotion 3-30-24, 1 Peter 1:18-19- "knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ." We have become so used to seeing and hearing certain things, they become common when they never should. Jesus' "precious blood" was far more than just blood. In Exodus 12, God instituted the shedding of a lamb's blood, painted on and over the doorpost, as a protection against death. If simple animal blood, strategically placed, could control death, how much more will the precious blood of the Son of God, perfect blood, containing no blemish of sin, protect and redeem you from death to life? Jesus, perfect in every way, without sin, intentionally allowed His own blood to be shed as the perfect sacrifice, the perfect solution for sin. Hebrews, 9:22b- "...and without the shedding of blood , there is no forgiveness." Leviticus 17:11- "for the life of the flesh is in the blood..." Therefore precious, perfect, blood brings life out of death. All sacrifices prior to Jesus' sacrifice were temporary. His sacrifice, His perfect blood, His life and blood, were sufficient for eternity. They are applied to all who will choose to believe. 1 Peter 1:20-23- "For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God." God in His great love, allowed Jesus' perfect blood to be the all sufficient solution for our sin. Hallelujah!
