Devotion 4-10-24, Exodus 31:6b, KJV - "...and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;" It's easy to read the Bible too rapidly or with only one focus. In doing so, it is quite easy to overlook precepts God has placed in your path. Here, God speaks to Moses about the construction of the tabernacle the people will build. But there is much more in this statement. Look closely; who is a wise hearted man or woman? God says He will give more wisdom, specific wisdom, to those who are wise hearted. Those who are wise hearted have already set their heart on God, on obeying Him, on understanding Him, on following close beside Him. Proverbs is full of references to wisdom; it speaks to us about the results of our listening to and responding to wisdom. Proverbs 1:2- "To know wisdom and instruction; To perceive the words of understanding;" This wisdom refers to having a lack of ability, or it means a reprimand, being willing to be taught or corrected. Proverbs 1:3- "To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, and judgment, and equity;" This wise behavior refers to a well used skill, practiced and available for guidance in all areas of life. God referred to people who had been taught, who had been willingly corrected, and who had practiced what they had learned so they were useful to Him. To those people, He gave additional wisdom, additional skill, and additional responsibility. He is the wisdom supplier; He is the wisdom director. God is the original and continual source of wisdom to those who lean upon, dependent upon and consistently obey God's precepts for life. Proverbs 2:6-7- "For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity," Are you known as one of God's wise people? You may be, if you choose.
