Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 4-11-24, Psalms 114:7a- "Tremble, O earth, before the Lord..." Every nation has some some spiritual deity whom they worship. All of them are lesser "gods," under the Lord. Various tribes worship nature or celestial bodies, Muslims worship Allah, Hindus worship over a million gods, etc. These lesser "gods" are demons in origin, distracting from the one true God. Deuteronomy 6:4- “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!" The Lord is the maker of the rest. The Lord is the originator of all that follows. The Lord, Himself, has no beginning and end. All that follows, including "god's," will eventually be destroyed. These "gods" have limited power whereas God, Lord, Creator, and Redeemer, has all power. We, those created by God, in His image, must choose to look beyond what is created. We must look to the Creator, worshipping only Him, acknowledging His power and His greatness. Biblical writers routinely compared "gods" and God. Psalms 96:4-6- "For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary." We, His people, must open our eyes to see all that God has done. We, His people, must acknowledge Him in praise! Psalm 95:1-3- "O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God And a great King above all gods."
