Devotion's by Deborah

1-11-24 Psalm 28:7 - "The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him." Strength, trust in the Lord, and songs of thanksgiving are themes found throughout the Bible. They are especially prevalent in David's psalms. He did not have a passing "nod your head at God" relationship with God. David leaned upon, depended upon, God for his daily life. Others, even in his own family, did not love God as he did. What set him apart? We find the answer for David, and ourselves, in Jeremiah 15:16, "Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I have been called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts." If we wish to really know and relate to God in an intimate relationship, we must consume God's word. We must eat it daily, chew on it daily, apply it daily, and reflect it to others daily. Only as we intentionally set aside quality time with God, daily, will we know His joy, His strength, His faithfulness, and His love. God created us for relationship. To be His means to know Him and delight in Him. To know Him means to desire His word more than physical food or sleep. His truth, His ways, must be a ptiority above all else. Then you may say, "my heart exults and with my song I shall thank Him!"
