Devotion 3-11-24, Psalms 85:8- "I will hear what God the Lord will say; For He will speak peace to His people,..." Do you hear what God the Lord says? Do you believe He can and will speak to those who are His by covenant relationship? God's word indicates the answer should be, "Yes." He does continuously speak to us; the key is do we listen? Listening requires attention. The psalmist says, "I will hear... for He will speak." Jesus said the the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth.(John 16:13) It is the Spirit who speaks from within believers. The Holy Spirit is "moving, inspiring, highlighting verses, setting up circumstances, sending signals, pouring forth knowledge, portraying parables, and prompting conversations that point to His truth for whatever season we are in. He floods our hearts with light (Ephesians 1:18), gives wisdom and understanding (Ephesians 1:17), reminds us of truth we've already been told (John 14:26), and tells us what's to come. (John 16:13)." (Experiecing God's Presence, May 30) Have you sat down, ready to read God's word, and ready for God to speak to you? Sit and pray, "Lord, speak to me through your word; I am here to listen to You and I am prepared to obey You." In every situation pray for God to direct you , then listen. Psalm 119:11 says, "Your word have I treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You." God promises to listen to us when we prepare to hear Him. Jeremiah 29:12-13- "Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."
