Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 3-21-24, Psalm 94:19- "When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul." Psalm 94 begins, "O LORD, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth!" There are times when anger and revenge seem to be the only options. There are times when we can see obvious wrongdoing. There are times when those wrongdoers seem to get by with their evil, harmful, deadly actions; and it seems they think there will be no response from God. They repudiate God, mocking Him. They appear to believe their actions will never see God's vengeance. But here in Psalm 94, written thousands of years ago, we see the psalmist has likewise, experienced our same thoughts and emotions. God directs us to allow Him vengeance. We must do what we can, within His guidance; but ultimate vengeance is God's. Deuteronomy 32:35- "Vengeance is Mine and retribution...." Romans 12:19- "Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God..." God knows and He will act. He also expects us to act in righteousness. We must keep ourselves rightly related to God in thought, word, and action, leaving God room to act. God gives us grace, power, to be calm, speaking and acting appropriately. He is our help; He is our guide. His lovingkindness holds us up in the struggle. He consoles us when anxiety overtakes our hearts and minds. God, Creator and Redeemer, knows us and He knows those who have placed themselves as enemies, both of us and God. We are to concentrate on God, doing His commands and watching Him collapse the evil. Psalms 94:16, 22-Who will stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against those who do wickedness? But the Lord has been my stronghold, And my God the rock of my refuge."
