Devotions by Deborah

Devotion 11-24-23- "I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears." Psalms 34:4. Fear is a normal experience in our lives and may result from all sorts of different causes, different sources. Not all fear is harmful. In the Bible, we find we are to fear the Lord, but not fear men. As children, we are taught to obey or fear the discipline that follows. As people, we know we must act in morally correct ways or prepare for the consequences. Fear in itself, is either healthy thinking, or thinking leading to calamity. I am to fear God but not Satan. I am to fear and revere, God but nothing else. Any fearful thought process not involving God, not directed to God, pulls our attention away from God. And, anything that diverts attention from God is unacceptable to God. So we pray. We bring our incorrect thinking, our fears, our anxiety to God, tell Him about it, and trust Him to hear and answer. He always hears and answers, always! God desires us to be His alone, not distracted by fear of any kind. He wants our undivided attention, our total attention, our total commitment. So we pray. We, fallible humans that we are, pray and God answers. We determine to always bring each and every fear, large or small, to God. We do not hold on to a single one. Lay all at His feet, trusting Him, sure of His answer. He will intervene; He will answer; He is able to make us fearless instead of fearful! He will deliver you from all your fear!
