Devotions by Deborah

Devotion 11-25-23 Matthew 6:25 - “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" Our natural tendency is to worry. Our natural tendency is to feel the need to consider everything that might possibly happen in the future. Our natural tendency is to get angry over perceived and real injuries. The key is that our natural, human, responses must be under the direction and control of something, Someone, greater than ourselves. This one who is greater, is God. He did not make you to worry. He did not create you to be angry. He did not cause you to live in fear. He brought you to life for relationship with Him. His plan was fellowship and love. We must accept that much of our negative emotional state is of our own making and repent of it. We must turn around, face God, and believe, in faith, that His love is real and personally relevant to each of us. Jesus was abundantly clear. Verses 31, 33- "Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Choose God over looking inwardly in worry and fear. Choose God over looking outwardly in anger towards others. Choose to look up to God who loves you unendingly and will provide what is needed! Trust in God! Psalm 37:5- " Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it."
